to you?...to everyone?....is there a point at all?....where does the point come from?....is a god involved?...where does this god come from?....why does he choose this?...why do you choose god? (and don't give me any spiritual insight crap...be honest. if you were taught to do so without question at an early age, just say so.)...and if there is no meaning to life, then why go through it at all?

The analytic philosopher, who sees the problems in philosophy as pseudo problems because of misuses of language, would say this is an prime example of the problem of misusing language. The analytic philosopher is going to say: "To define the meaning of something means that you must go outside of it, that is, to view it. To go outside of existence would mean to go into non-existence which is also 'nothing'. Hence, this is a problem of language, since you can't go outside of existence to define the meaning of existence."

However, if we take life to mean something particular, as well as universal, and hence something all beings contain, then those being that are able to define existence can use there mind to "go outside" (or be objective) of their own life to define. This is the essence of objective philosophy; that the meaning of life is "going outside" and defining "life"--What it means to have it--what it means to life it.

The meaning of life to me is experiencing matter time energy, and space in different forms material, and non-material.There is an obvious primal force not yet proven by science or any religion that causes its perpetual motion. The point of life is to utilize this primal force that fuels life to improve your own existence.Anyone can access this force through many different techniques. So many people may come to the conclusion that this force comes from "GOD',or deities. That would imply that this force behind life is the source.Others deny the existence of anything more supernatural,or having controll over their destiny depriving them from free will. Why someone would choose between any of these is out of necessity, for mental comfort of knowing.I choose not to make a choice.I was raised to believe what I want, and to always question the mechanics of everything.I was never forced to go to church when I was a child, and I honestly don't want any kind of absolute answers to these kinds of questions.I like the mystery because it is more interesting than to just know........Or the simpler answer is ....life is what it is,it means what it means to everyone individually, the point is the tip,and is very sharp, the point comes from something dull that has been sharpened, god exists,he comes from a world where gods live,he chooses this because he can,and he wants to.The same reason people get pets.God chooses us,and if there is no meaning then don't go through it .

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

let me give you an honest answer from myself ...

there is a point, yes... well, yah, i believe in God...

haha, spiritual insight crap, lol... i wont give you any :D

i was raised as a chirstian, a seventh day adventist to be exact, BUT, i have done a LOOOONG reaseach over evolution... try to understand a new conclusion... but came up with none. it's just really close minded for a person to think there's no God when the earth came to be so accurate (has a moon to help, perfect distance from sun, the organs in our bodies, etcc.)...

let me not bore you with all this

let me put it more simple, cause i hate it when other christians make it really hard when its reallly simple

god is always. he was never created, he was always there, he will always be there, he is always here.

god isn't a bad man. the world is srewed up because of sin of how it came to the world and how people were manipulated into thinking god is un unjust and unfair guy

um... i tried my best with the whole "no crap" thingy

but, whatever

if you want to hear more

just e-mail me,

ill be glad to talk

There can be no purpose, point or meaning to life unless there is a Creator of that life.

“Unless you assume a God, the question of life’s purpose is meaningless.” –Bertrand Russell (Russell was a 20th century mathematician, philosopher, Nobel Laureate)

So if we reject God, we're at a dead end (really dead). All we can do is think of some activities that will keep us busy and focused on little bits of happy feelings so we won't think about a meaningless existence. In this way we can avoid suicide and insanity. "Live life to the fullest" is one commonly-heard expression of this keep busy and keep focused technique.

If we accept that God might exist, we can see that He must have put our great need for meaning into our human nature to point us to seek Him. So I reason that our God given purpose (if God exists) is to seek Him.

My definition of God is my Creator and I know some things about Him because I am His creation and I know some things about myself. I know that I value love and mercy and compassion and justice for example and if He created me, He must possess those things even more than I.

Where did God come from? He has always been. This is a completely satisfactory answer from even a scientific standpoint.

Why does He choose to want us to seek Him. Because His nature is one of love and love requires free choice. Beyond that simple explanation, it's too hard a question.

There is no meaning to life. The reason i go through it is the very same reason all the other animals on the planet go through it, we have a natural want to stay alive for as long as possible.

Whether or not i have a purpose, I want to exist. I don't need some lie about ascending to heaven and being great, in order to keep me going. I just want to live for as long as possible. I wish I could live forever. The only problem with living forever is that it would be horribly lonely :(

people need to stop thinking about life and wasting their time philosophizing about it and just live it. they're just being hypocritical. why contemplate life when you could be out there living it? it's too short to just sit around trying to figure things out. question everything, search for meaning, but what it all comes down to is what you've done, what you've accomplished, and what you've changed. whether or not you had an impact. to sit around wondering why we're here...it's just being contradictory.
and your last question, why go through life if we're just going to die and that'll be that? if that's your philosophy, then why bother doing anything if you're going to end up in the same place. the point is to learn, because even if yeah, there is no meaning, then at least we'll know. we'll know what love is, we'll know what saddness is, and we'll know what it's like to feel alive.
btw, i'm 16, catholic/beleive in God, and make up my own mind without using other people's ideas.

The purpose of life is to care for others, teach those who desire it and help those who need it. Life is a difficult challenge for all, at times, and only if we are kind and helpful, will we contribute to making this world a better place.
