my friends mom is an EMT and she told me its ssoo dangerous to shower with a tampon in.. but shes been known to make things up to make herself sound important. but im not sure... is she right??

lol, no it is not at all dangerous. I don't know why your friends mom would say that. However leaving one in longer than about 12hrs, is unhealthy and can lead to you developing Toxic Shock Syndrome.

I've never heard that before and if it were true I'm sure it would be in the tampon information leaflet that comes in all packs. Like they have warnings of not overnight, not more than 8 hours...they don't mention shower.
I guess if you squirt water up there and it gets wet, that would be a bit weird, but I don't think anyone would do that. Personally I would say it's best to not, because you can probably clean better without it, and then but in a new one when you're clean afterwards. Don't think it mattesr though.

The woman is jazzin you.
It's NOT dangerous to wear a tampon when showering. That's what they're for.
I have been wearing tampons for 14 years and have always worn them when I shower. I need to for my heavy flow. It not only flows in the shower, but I bleed on my towel. With a tampon in, that does not happen for me.

It's perfectly safe. It'll be like your swimming. However, if your taking a shower it's not exactly necessary to wear a tampon.

Honey I have been doing that for 26 years. I don't know why she would try to scare you like that. I would not take anything that she says in the future to heart.

She's wrong. It won't hurt you. Leaving a tampon in for too long will though.

Oh, please, tell this woman to have her head checked. You can shower, take a bath, swim - anything you want, well except sex. Tell her to get an education or read the damn box before she goes around giving misinformation to people!!! Geez!!!!!! EMT, DON'T get me started!!!!

noooo! its actually good to shower with one in because then you can get yourself clean and not get blood all over urself i do it all the time and i am still alive!!! its cool she was prob just sayin that itll be fine.
