well i was metal dectecting after a hurricane near a spanish galleon fleet shipwreck hopeing to find something, but i ended up finding a piece of ship or at least i think it is. it is lead looking rectangle brick with loops for ropes. an seams to be made from lead type metal. it looks really old, an i think it might be part of the ship, but what do i do with it

Either take it to a museum (but depending on where you live, they might not have a clue either) or call the history or anthropology department at a university near you locally. A professor would be able to research it (or get their grad student to) and tell you more about it, and if it was really from the 17th century or not.
