I'm serious!I'm almost 17...I have no job because "no one is hiring".THAT'S A BUNCH OF BS!EVERYONE at my school is getting jobs just like that, and I've been applying around forEVER!I'm not ugly,I don't have a criminal background,I have references,I'm nice and polite!!!WHAT DO PEOPLE WANT?I think this sucks,I know freakin adults who have kids who WON'T get off their butts and get a job and I'm just a kid basically and I actually want to work, but they will hire a lazy bum before me!I can't help that I have no work experience. No I've never babysat before or anything like that. The world keeps saying it takes "time" to get a 1st job,but it takes 6 freakin months(how long i've been trying) for an entry level job??Oh come on!I'm so tired of being at home,BROKE,while everyone else is out making their own money, making friends at work, and going out having fun cause THEY have money!WHAT CAN I DO?

I don't know anyone who can help me get a job AT ALL.I'm absolutely "upset and frusterated"!

The first thing I try to determine when I interview "young" applicants is this:

Do they just "want" a job or are they "Willing to work" for a job?

Simple idea, but I can get that answer I'm looking for in about 2 minutes or less when faced with an applicant.

Also, you have to realize that youth equalls risk. Arm yourself with knowledge, do your homework about a company before applying and understand what you are willing to bring to the table. Can you further the company's goals, can you add something to their workforce they don't allready have, can you demonstrate a true belief that you belong with them?

It sounds like you want someone to just give you a job... based on your question and statements, you really didn't have to put your age... I could have guessed you were young. Don't be a predictable teen applicant, figure out a way to set yourself apart from the others and quit the self pity "loser" talk. Get out there and show someone you're ready to get serious and get to work!

Its pretty hard to give you this type of advise over the Internet. You need to find out why, no one is hiring "you". You can not ask an employer why not because they are not allowed to give advise.
!. ask kids you own age that are working if you have a liability you don't know about.
2. Ask a teacher or councilor at school the same question.
3. See if someone at your state employment department can help you(not usually much help from government employees.

It may be the way you come across. Some people don't relate well with strangers even when they try really hard.

I got one job when I was young by working for free for a guy I knew need help and told him If I wasn't any good he didn't have to pay me. By the end of the day I had the job and he paid for that day. He just was afraid to take a chance on an unknown.

Ask your friends who have jobs to keep their ears open and to let you know if there is an opening where they work. Networking is the most common way people get jobs. In the meantime, start babysitting, walking dogs, mowing lawns, anything that can show you were paid for work.

When you go to apply for a job, make sure you are neat and clean. Attire should be khaki pants or very nice jeans and a polo shirt with clean sneakers or casual shoes. Nothing too sexy or too baggy. Minimal jewelry and tasteful makeup. If you have facial piercings, take the rings/rods out if you can . Have a firm handshake. Make eye contact with the person you're speaking with. Speak clearly, don't chew gum or smoke. First impressions are everything in the job world.

Hopefully it will pick up for you soon. Malls and retail stores are beginning to hire for Christmas.

1) make sure you finish high school. Education is important for future jobs.

2) also you may not start out big. Look at places that were hiring and apply to a bunch of places. Go to a temp agency. Also places that could hire you may be desperate. This happened to me. They need help and you need a job. So just do a good job so you can work your way to a better job. It's taken me a long time to get to a better job, but after years of perserverance it's starting to pay off.

Become your own boss. Start a business of your own. Something that you would be interested in. Could be a baby sitter. These are sometimes the most reqarding jobs.

Also have you looked into Clinical Nurses Aide. They are in high demand. And most places will train you. Check with Senior centers, and Retirement homes. The work is not always easy but some places will send you to college after you have been there for a while in order for you to become a Nurse.

Create your own. Leafs are beginning to fall. Grab a rake and a tarp and print up flyers to hand out in your neighborhood. Most people hate yard work and are vary often willing to pay someone else to do it. If you pursue it further you can pull out the lawn mower and cut a 50' x 100' lot for $20.00. You can make a lot more money this way than you can at an entry level job.

Also try your local town youth bureau.

Try out volunteering for a while and then apply for jobs. And if you have good grades you could even apply for internships. Also at my school we had a career center with a list of businesses that had positions open for high school students.
Also ask your friends if they employers are hiring.
