About 10 years ago, some drunk fool red neck in a piece-o-junk chevy truck started cutting doughnuts in my front yard sometime after midnight. I was quite proud of that particular lawn, so needless to say this maggot snot really torqued me off. Now being so dark, ole bottle neck apparently overlooked the very large oak tree just off of the highway and t-boned that baby like a pro.
I called the local sheriffs and state troopers office but was informed that there were no units in my immediate area for the next hour or so...
Keep in mind this knuckle head has attached his truck to a tree in my yard after scratching these large circles and figure eights in my beautiful grass and was out cold.
I told the dispatcher that this guy was shouting at us and frantically waving a gun of some sorts so I would be forced to protect my family with deadly force.
The first on the scene? A Tow Truck! A state trooper was there within just a few minutes. Weeks later it was determined that this water head thought he was a couple of miles away in a friends yard...

Only once, when I found a website online devoted to illegal activity going on in the strip clubs I'd recently found my husband had been haunting (maxing our credit cards, not just a little jaunt). I was absolutely boggled that people were publicly and brazenly discussing and rating what illegal activities were going on, how best to obtain them, how to deal with police if the place was raided, how the managers didn't care, etc., so I called up the vice department of the police.
Turns out they are well aware... but only have limited personnel and judicial capacity ("We could raid tonight and I guarantee you we'd have 25 arrests, and they'd be all back at work tomorrow") and so harder crimes like drugs take higher priority. He did give me more information on how the places work, and the "favorite" in particular (apologized to me since he knew enough to know that the place was Bad News). Nice fella, actually.

I called 9-1-1 when I was living in the dorms and found a guy passed out in the stairwell vomiting blood. I just wanted an ambulance, but the police showed up too.

I've never called the cops. I've called for an ambulance, but never the cops.
Hey, I would have called too if I saw a body laying by the road...that's not normal!! :)

After my daughter ran into the side of a moving car 3 years ago when she was about to turn 4. She broke her collar bone and was thankfully OK! I shudder every time I think about what COULD have happened.

Ha ha, that's funny. You did the right thing though.
The last time I called the police was three years ago when a 17 year old driving his Daddy's Truck plowed into me whilst I was pulling into my own driveway.

When I was 2.. whoops!
But for when I called for real, I was 17 and it was when my mom was passed out in her bedroom one morning. She had some heart problem we didn't know about- it was scary! She was only 40-something! She's better now though!
Happy ending!
