the only thing you can do is to leave him. Any one who is mentally abusive can easily become physically abusive as well for any of many reasons. Get out while you can or if you have children see an attorney so that you can throw him out and keep the house.

First, seek out a therapist for yourself. (A victim of mental abuse myself, a good therapist helped me become strong enough to be able to confront him.) Then ask him to come with you to therapy and try to get it all aired out there. If he staunchly refuses, the most important thing you can do is save yourself by getting out of the marriage.

Long term mental abuse can destroy your self-esteem. His gambling can put your credit rating in jeopardy, which can also severely impair your self-esteem. You are the best asset that you have, protect yourself - especially if you have children. You don't want them to think that your husbands actions are acceptable.

You have to ask yourself 2 questions.

What kind of life do you have living with someone with the problems your husband has.

Will he go for professional help....he has 2 very serious problems.

If you don't like the answers you come up with....you need to leave.
