My daughter is 3-months old. She had her first cold on Monday, but it seems to have cleared up. Never ran a fever. Her appetite returned to normal yesterday, but today she didn't finish two of her bottles. (She is breastfed and is given bottled breast milk at daycare). She ate at 4, and by 5:30, she threw up a lot, three times. She ate again at 6:40, then snacked at 8:10. By 9, she thew up again. Still no fever. What should I do?

Just make sure she stays hydrated. If she throws up, wait at least an hour before feeding her again to let her stomach settle. If she still has an appetite, that is a good thing. If she doesn't seem bothered by it too much, then she's probably okay. Maybe she picked up a bit of a bug, or maybe the mucous from her cold irritated her stomach a bit. At least she's not throwing up right after she eats, so she is getting the liquids and some of the nutrients out of it. It will probably clear up soon on its own, whatever it is. Keep breastfeeding as much as you can if she seems comfortable with it. I hope she (and you) feel better soon. I know how worrisome it can be when your baby isn't feeling well. But it doesn't sound like anything serious. If she seems to get worse or if you see signs of dehydration, call the doctor. Otherwise, just give her lots of snuggles.

It doesn;t sound like anything to worry about but, I would definitely call the doctor. 3 months old is very young and it's difficult to know what's going on. I assume it wasn't just on the large side of spitting up but, was really throwing up? I would keep track of her temperature and call the doc immediatley if she ends up with a temp. Babies can get ear infections from colds and often can have trouble eating when they have one -- I don't know if throwing up might be a sign of an ear infection sometimes (rarely?) as well. I would call the doc in the morning. Do NOT give her any medication without consulting the doctor.

Many things can cause infants to vomit. check out the following:

Could be some particutlar food you are eating.
could be "acid reflux".
could be all the germs at daycare. Daycare is not a great place for a 3 month old. Lots of moms send thier sick kids to daycare so they can go to work. There are soooo many germs there, and babies havent built up thier ammunities yet. My son hardly ever got sick until I sent him to preschool. Then he was sick all the time for about a year until he built up his ammunities. Call your doctor right away because it will make you feel better! Her doctor will know just what to do. Good luck. Hope she feels better soon!

Swallowing mucous can actually make you throw up, it isn't that digestible -particularly to an infant.

If she is still peeing, and the pee isn't dark I wouldn't be too concerned unless the vomiting continues past 2-3 days. I know that seems like a long time.

She may be swallowing phlem and that is why she is throwing up- it makes your tummy queasy.

I'd call the doctor and make a visit to be sure, but keep her well hydrated and take good care.

I know it's scary with such a young baby.
I hope she is feeling better really soon!

If she usually does not spit up at all I would call her doctor. she could have thrush in her mouth and throat.
