Ummmm no offense but do you know what Islam is?
Thats kindof like looking at the violence in Ireland and asking what went wrong with Christianity.
Most of the members of Islam are not in the countries that are fighting now. And some of the countries fighting on our side is Islamic. The top 10 islamic countries are:

Frankly, nothing. This is just a phase that cultures go through. It is just there "turn" to blast a path all over the world. The Christians did it, the Hebrews did it.
Like all the "in fighting" that goes on in the faith. It happend in all the other religions too. It just happended longer ago.
I believe in about 100 years it will all settle down.
Just my thoughts, could be wrong.
