Should you ever start to get close to your friend's ex?..say you're mutual friends with both of them?..
*My friend Karen just broke up with Chris, and I met Chris through Karen. He and I still chat and we've become good friends. I told him if he needs a shoulder to cry on, he knows I'm there for him. Karen knows we're friends and she thinks he's a great guy, but just not for her. She is already talking to someone else. It's been less than a month since the break up. Hum..so is it fine that I might get closer to him, as he might need a shoulder to cry; vent?..I don't plan on telling her about him, as she said there is nothing else to talking bout -when it comes to him. They both confide in me, and I would never want to hurt them

Cherrybe if you value your friendship with Karen are you prepared to lose her over this guy Chris. What if it didn't work out with Chris? you lose both Chris and Karen. After all Karen is your best friend. It not worth losing a good friend over a guy.

I was in the same situation, i got closer to him without telling her and then when she found out she took it really badly because i had lied to her. Any way she ended up being okay with it which is good as I ended up marrying him!!! So my suggestion is that you talk to her and be honost about everything and then there will be no surprises for anyone and you can get as close to him as you like!!! good luck!

Don't trade a "steak sandwich, for a piciece of limburer cheez!!!! Step away from this Chris guy, and maintain your friendship w/Karen!! Even if you ask her idea(permission), it will always be awkward!!

I've been in this situation. My best friend and his wife split and I was kinda stuck in the middle, like you.
One night I was hanging out with her and we started talking about having sex. As much as I wanted to, I knew it would just cause too many problems, not just with my best friend, but sex between "just friends" always ruins the friendship, and I would end up losing both friends.
We didn't, and I'm glad we didn't. I'm still friends with both, and I value their friendship.
Just don't get sucked in too deep!

I probably wouldn't get involved with the guy--- it is a very risky ordeal and if I did-- I would NOT hide it from my friend. That right there proves you think there is something wrong with it.
