How old are you? You don't have to have 8 hours a day training in order to succeed in ballroom, but what's optimal for a 7 year old kid won't work so well for a 20 year old adult and visa verse. Yes, unlike in many other dance careers, you do have a chance in ballroom if you're 20 now.
In general, you or your parents need to find a good program/teachers and get you into consistent training. You really only need 2 hrs 3times a week for the first year or two. It is in fact a bad idea to over train yourself at the beginning, when your muscles are not ready to take more. But you do need to make sure that you're signing up for competitive (not social) classes taught by good professionals. Nothing wrong with social ballroom, but your goal is different.
