I'm 13 and all my friends have their periods, when I don't. A lot of them comment on how it's strange that I don't have my period, since I'm a lot more 'developed' then them. My mom got her period when she 14. Is it normal for me not to have it even though I'm 'developed'? Does the age my mom got it at have anything to do with when I'll get it?

The first period usually comes about two years after the first signs of puberty begin-things like breast growth, pubic and underarm hair development. Genetics are also a factor, so the fact that your mom was 14 when she got her period could also explain why you haven't had your period yet. All the women I know got their period for the first time within about 6 months of the age their mom had her first period.
It's not unusual or necessarily a sign of a problem to have not had your first period yet. The next time you're at a doctor's appointment, let your family doctor know your concerns-they will probably reassure you to give it a little more time.
If you haven't started your period by age 16, then some blood tests should be done to ensure you don't have a hormonal imbalance, but for now as long as you're otherwise healthy and feeling well, there is probably no need to worry.

Yeah, its completely normal. Especially since your mom had heres when she had hers at 14. All girls have their period at a different time and they only have their period because their body is ready, not because they are mentally ready. I'm 12 1/2 and I haven't had my period yet either.
Tips to be able to tell what time range your period will be:
â¥About 2-3 years after your breasts develop
â¥About 1 year after you get vaginal discharge
â¥About 1 year after you get body hair
Just don't tell by that chart it may happen different for you. Just be prepared and carry a pad in your bookbag or locker.

Yes. No matter how "developed" you are, it's normal to get your period at anytime. I was very developed when i got my period, while many of my friends were almost flat. If you don't get it by age sixteen, though, you should talk to your doctor. You'll most likely get it within a year.

That is normal.....i didn't get my period until i was 13 but that had something to do with the amount i training i did for disatnce running. I have a friend who is 14 and hasn't started yet. If you're really you should talk to a doctor.

you are still not developed trust me i am 12 and my mom had her period at the age of 17 and i had mines at 9. im not even developed. i am a 34A with nothing! no behind no nothing! so dont worry you stop growing until u reach the age of 18. so relax

Yes, it is normal yet. If you already have sexual development, it will take one more year more or less.

yes, daughters usually start about the same age their moms did. i know its hard to believe but you aren't really missing anything!!!!

yes its perfectly normal one of m sisters ditnt even get hers until she was 16
