With in-tank breeder nets, the biggest problem is other fish jumping over the netting, and devouring the helpless fry, as well as providing almost no swimming space for the developing fry. The best thing to do is let the parents drop their eggs or young into a separate tank, and later remove the parents. This will provide the fry with ample growing space, and shelter from cannibalistic parents.

Well, it would be best if you purchase the breeder net with holed on the bottom where the fry would fall through the holes and be safe. I really don't like to keep female fish in the breeder tank as she might get stressed. I would just try to fill up the tank with lots of plants and such that could save your fry. Also, try to cover the breeder net so the fish won't get in it.

If you have no tank available. Then get one. But if you can get a tank, get that instead. But if you cant get a tank for about 1-2 weeks, get the net for temporary use. after the mother has given birth INSIDE THE TANK, scoop the babies inside the net. That way, no stress, no eaten babies. Ofcourse, your going to have to get a new tank ASAP as a net isnt a secure home.

If it is a poorly designed one this can be true. I think an acrylic box works better. Your best bet would be to get a 5 or 10 gal aquarium to put these little guys in so they can move and be free. I think this will promote healthier fish and they will reach maturity quicker.
