-10=1/2x +x
Combine like terms: -10=(1 1/2)x
Express in terms of a fraction: 1 1/2 = 3/2
-10=(3/2)x
Multiply both sides by 2/3 to get x by itself:
-10(2/3)=x
Solve for x: -20/3 = -6.66 therefore -6.66=x

WAIT I GOT IT!!!
-10 = 1/2x + 1x
-10 = 3/2x ( because you add on the 1x)
2/3 • -10 = 2/3 • 3/2 ( getting the x by it's self)
-20/3 = x
x = -6.66666666 ( and on and on and on)
hope I helped!
I'm doing the same stuff in algebra ( yesterday)

-10 = 1/2x + x
add 1/2x+ 1x= 3/2x
-10= 3/2x
divide 3/2 by both sides.
you get: x= you should do a little work on this problem [;

-10=1/2x + x
(-10=1/2x + x)2: multiply everything by 2
-20=x+2x: solve
-20=3x: add the x's together
x=-20/3: -20 divided by 3

-10 = 1/2x +x
to make it easier you can rewrite it as
1/2x -x = -10
this is the same as 1/2x +1x = -10
3/2x = -10
x = -10 divided by 3/2
x = -10 * 2/3
x = -20/3
x = -6 2/3 0r -6.67

-10=1/2x + x
-10=1 1/2x
-10=3/2x (flip to get the reciprical then multiply to the ten.)
2/3x(-10)
x=-20/3
in algebra you leave it in fraction form unless it asks for the decimal.
