I put this ? in GWS, because I would like to see how feminists would respond. I asked in politics somewhere, and was surprised at the answers. I pondered using the death penalty in clear cut cases. How can we protect our children when the laws let these sickos out continually to make room for a guy who got caught with a joint and was only hurting himself? It is a proven fact that they cannot be rehabilitated, so why keep them around at all? Some tried to make the case that the death penalty would be too easy, and that they should suffer in prison. How does making them suffer protect our children in the future? Wouldn't it be wiser to just remove them from the earth permanently? Castration isn't feasible, as it's an act of power. What are your thoughts on outdated laws that aren't protecting our children?
Thank god for cell phones, or my kids would never get to walk to the store or a friends house. May be a false sense of security, but at least I can make sure they got there, etc.

Obviously, I pay no attention to adolescent posts.....
Squeak, that'd be great if we could be assured that they will never be let out, ever. Problem is, they let them out all the time to do the same thing over and over.....

EDIT: Tasman, you fail to make your case with any sort of valid argument. Do you have ANY suggestion to offer on how to stop this insanity, or are you only here to poke at Zik?

Cut there privates off, then give them the electric chair. Oh yeah, and so they they don't bite their tongues during the electrocution, stuff their severed member into their mouths.
I am aware of the difference between child molestation and murderer, but the negative effects and repercussions that both of these evil acts can have on persons and family involved can be equally devastating. This might sound strange, but when you're dead...you're dead. People/family and friends grieve, and can hopefully carry on with their lives over time. But when you're a victim of a child molester, that's the same as stealing a life. Many victims lives, and future paths are altered forever as a result.
I've seen no effective way of protecting our children in my lifetime. Pedophiles and rapists are reprobates. Why does society keep on fooling itself into thinking that some can be cured? Perhaps 1 out of every couple hundred can be? I'm not sure what kind of studies have been done to determine this. But all we're doing is putting more children in harms way trying to figure that out. To me, that's insanity!
I think once someone molests a child, there should be no exceptions. Execution is the only way. If we do this, it may send a stronger signal to the sickos of the world that are contemplating some sort of depraved act.
Of course this will never rid the world of sex offenders, but it will definitely eliminate any chance of second time offenders!
It's sad how when most people think of child molesters, the male automatically comes to mind. I would show absolutely no leniency towards a female child molester, and happily throw the switch on either a man or woman.
Edit - It's quite obvious that the person who gave me a thumbs down either knows nothing about what children endure during the act of molestation, or in the years that follow. Or, he/she is in fact a child molester!
I agree with eaf3274. I would take pleasure in torturing a pedophile!
By the way, I am a very normal, sensible, and well adjusted person in case you were wondering. Far more so than the sickos that are topic for discussion here!

I agree something needs to be done, but its a slippery slope, I mean where do you draw the line between child molester and person thats 18 having sex with person that's 16? Should this person that clearly isn't a predator, but just doesn't make very good decisions, be executed?
But then you have people that are predators from very young ages and have no prospect of ever being rehabilitated, like the man that molested me, I was 7 he was 16. I never told anyone, and years later he was convicted of raping both his daughters. This person should be dealt with swiftly. I'm not sure death is the answer though.
To tell you the truth I wouldn't know where to begin as to reforming the current situation, but I do feel that execution isn't the end all be all of answers.

It is a complicated question and you can't expect a simple answer to a complicated question.
There are probably many reasons child molesters do what they do, and some of them are comparatively benign while others are symptomatic of a much larger problem. An example of what might be benign would be a curious teenager who goes a little too far. He or she will probably outgrow that curiosity and be a fairly normal person.
But there are others who are seriously warped, and I think it's probably fair to describe them as mentally ill. If we were to execute these mentally ill people would that open the door to executing other mentally ill people? What would it do for a so-called retarded person who is on death row?
I think the problem needs to be dealt with, but we also need a better understanding of why we have it and what causes it.
I do favor capital punishment for murderers, some rapists, and a few other crimes, but all death sentences are almost automatically reviewed and sent through an appeals process which can take years.
Many of these death sentences are challenged. The death penalty is an imperfect punishment because it is so subject to appeal and also is very much under fire from citizens's organizations, activists, and attorneys. Sentencing someone to death is not a guarantee that he or she will be punished.
At this juncture the best protection against child molesters is parents who teach their children to be on guard against them.
Incidentally, chemical castration has worked in some cases. Generally, however, our best defense against child molesters is to know who they are, where they are, and who to report them to if they act on their impulses.

Yes I agree anyone that does this should be put behind bars. I also think we should do mental evaluations on these people and learn more about why they do these things. Maybe the research will help us be more aware of warning signs to look for, and tighten up our laws and know what we need to do to prevent a second time, if and when they are released.

I was just reading the diary of this molester named Alan X. He was caught for child molestation and was sentenced to five to six consecutive life sentences who used the ultimate secrecy code to gather his victims. This is part of what he said:
"Before I was sentenced, I was put on Lupron [an anti-androgen that lowers testosterone]. My entire life changed. I cannot remember a period in my life when I was not acting out and spending hours lost in fantasy and plotting. Nothing that I did proved sufficient to break this destructive obsession until I was put on Lupron.
Obviously, Lupron, or any other form of chemical castration, does not alter the mind's ability to conjure up deviant thoughts. But without the ability to achieve gratification, the thoughts are short-lived. The most stimulating and erotic of ideas has little appeal when the body refuses to respond. For the first time, I could go to sleep without fantasizing and masturbating. I often lay in bed at night asking myself what life could have been like if I had been given this drug 20 or 30 years earlier.
Most of the guys in prison would enjoy nothing more than having the opportunity to get back out into the world, if only briefly. The world remains for me one that I simply can't handle. As they were taking me from the transport van into the hospital for medical testing I had to walk past a 12-year-old boy. All of the old feelings came crashing down. I felt as if this kid were a magnet pulling me toward him. If nothing else, I am glad that I am tightly confined behind iron bars."
Still as moms and dads we are always worried. Suppose the offender forgets to take their daily dose if released, will we only know when it is too late, then what?

A lot of people say pedophiles should get the death penalty. But in reality juries rarely have the guts to give the death penalty even to murderers. Far less than one percent of murderers are actually given the death penalty.

I completely understand where you're coming from, but I don't think they should get the death penalty unless they have killed a child. I would say life in prison without the chance of parole for serious cases like repeat offenders or acts involving children under 12 years of age and making it a mandatory 10 years per child, for other molesters. Our laws in general need to be revamped and amended. The world is changing constantly and the courts need to update the law book accordingly. I just think no one wants to take the time to do so.

Man,I hear ya!Its enough to make one's blood boil.Castration doesn't sound bad to me.I could write a report on the subject.Would make alot of people mad.And I wouldn't care.I love cell phones too.A means of communication if they need me in an emergency,or the police.I would change a few things. If you do the crime,do the time. There are some crimes that are unexcuseable.CM is one of them.Calls for drastic measures. And the low lifes that protect them.

if you introduce the death penalty as a standard tariff for paedophiles then it begins to make sense for a paedophile to kill his victims (so that they will never be able to identify him).
i think paedophilia is a heinous crime, but i wouldn't be prepared to see an increase in child murder as a fair price to pay for a drop in molestations.
