California all the way.
For experience, please forget about New York. It doesn't matter where, New york is way too crowded; way too humid and muggy; way too expensive; crime is a huge problem; people are the most rude and loud in the country; and on and on and on... Way too overrated and you'll be miserable there. Weather is the worst; nothing in the middle, either freezing to death or very, but-very-humid-and-hhhot.
-(You'll loooo-ve California..! Southern is awesome but great also in the Northern side...It's a great and a large state with all you want, and the people is so great... Do your homework and chose the place according to your needs.)-

new york city is sticky in the summer and snows in the winter. screw that ! plus way to many people , you never have parking and crime is out of control . cali is warm all the time and people there are friendly
