Simple question.
But I would be interested to hear why you have decided on the band that you are about to decide on. (Or already HAVE decided on.)

I prefer Led Zeppelin as a guitarist. While David Gilmour of Pink Floyd has some of the best sustain and expression, Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin has unmatched (unless you're talking Hendrix) dexterity.

Led Zeppelin was a much more instrumental band, pioneers of recording really. Jimmy Page introduced backward echos and mulit-overlaid guitar tracks into mainstream music. Led Zeppelin encompassed a much greater variety of music. Typical hard rock driven songs such as "Whole Lotta Love" Eastern world influenced songs like "Kashmir," and even folk such as "Bron Yr Stomp." Led Zeppelin is the epitome of the rock image. Guitar heros, party-like-a-rock-star, all came from Led Zeppelin. Led Zeppelin is a band where you can listen to a song and go "hey, I've heard that before" and you never realized it was Led Zeppelin.

Pink Floyd used many more effects in their music and technically compossed a different genre, termed "progressive rock." They are easily the best "progressive rock" band, due in large part to David Gilmour sticking with blues-based guitar work. Their works do not cover such a great span as Led Zeppelin's music does however.

For a quick, easy match just compare each band's greatest works. Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" vs. Pink Floyd's "Another Brick in the Wall pt. 2." Both are great anthems, but again, "Stairway to Heaven" is the epitome of a rock anthem, not only in guitar solo, but also in structure and chord progression.

Pink Floyd. I'm sure I'm going to be crucified for this but I never really got into Led Zeppelin. Pink Floyd was more interesting for me.

Well, I really like Led Zeppelin. The song 'Stairway to Heaven' is really inspirational to my band and I. Pink Floyd isn't bad, but more oldmanish to me. So it's LZ!

Pink Floyd!
They're my favorite band, and alot of it has to do with the way just about everything they make is so much based on melody and overall impact, and not just individual solos or songs. Everything works together as one piece, not to mention Roger waters is one of the best lyricist ever. Jimmy Page is a more skilled guitarist than David Gilmour, but Jimmy Page never had the ability to send chills down my spine with his solos teh was David Gilmour can.

Floyd, but only because I haven't listened to much Led Zeppelin. What I have listened to wasn't as mellow as Pink Floyd... but still pretty mellow.

My dad liked them a lot, maybe I should check them out more.

I prefer Pink Floyd, because David Gilmour plays the guitar in your way that sends shivers down your spine.

But, Led Zeppelin is more classic.

It's close but I like Pink Floyd more.

Grew up on Floyd . Their songs are awesome. Depends on what you're thinkin, but they definitely get into your head. Most awesome concerts I've ever been to. Watch the Wall, every time you'll see something different that ya didn't see before. All their albums were great!!

Duh Pink Floyd.Pink floyds more mellow.Dont get me wrong I love to get the Led out but Pink Floyds always been my favorite band. You ever listen to Darkside of the moon while watching The wizard of oz?It really does fit together perfectly.David Gilmoure denies that they did that on purpose so it must be one hell of a coincidence.Besides The movie The Wall was a million times better than the Zeppilin Movie (cant remember the name of it now)
