'Hairspray', the new musical at the Shaftesbury Theatre London will build a cult following bigger than The Rocky Horror Show. It's just great. An exuberant, colourful, life enhancing evening. You take the show away with you, singing and dancing into the street. A brilliant, talented cast includes Michael Ball as the mother, Mel Smith as the father.

Hairspray is not nearly as interesting or as engaging as Rocky Horror.
Catchy tunes, maybe, but not enough to leave me truly impressed.
However, I haven't seen the cast you mentioned.
In any case, it won't have nearly the cult following. For one, there's the fact that the majority of actors I know prefer Rocky Horror. For another, there's the majority of theater-goers I know who also prefer Rocky Horror. Thirdly, and this is said in warmest love... I just can't see the late-night RH crowd piling in with the same amount of enthusiasm for so much less sex.

I'd love to see it. Say, can anyone spare plane fare to London? Thanks.
