Illegals have effected the economy by driving down wages. You can get quotes, including quotes from the President, that say "illegals do jobs Americans won't do." Really?

Ask yourself? Would you work at McDonalds if they paid $25 an hour? Many, Many students would, but with illegals coming in by the millions, willing to work for $8/hr, of course McDonalds does not need to increase the wages.

So the President and others are not looking at the facts, that is, no one wants to work at McDonalds because the wages are not high enough, since McDonalds can hire illegals to do the work for minimum wage (and minimum wage is a joke).

And of course consumers like it because they get their burgers cheaper.

But, what about shelter, schooling, and medical for these illegals workers. No problem, the state and fed simply borrow the money from the Japanese and Chinese, and loot the Social Security trust fund, and dole out benefits to the illegals.

Great, Americans love it, they don't have to pay more for their burgers because the government pays all the benefits to the low income with borrowed money.

But, what about future generations? No problem, they will just have to compete with the illegals, and by the way, pay back all the money that was borrowed by their baby boomer parents via the government to support the low income (again your parents love this because it makes the products and services cheaper for them).

Unfortunately, for the next generations, the leverage of the US government is running out, and you won't be able to borrow money like your parents did, and you will have to pay all the money back that your parents have been borrowing for the last 30 years. Not to mention, pay all the bills for their retirement and medical costs.

Meg is right. There is almost no evidence that illegal immigrants have had a negative effect on the US economy. In fact, the evidence is clear that they have a small positive effect.

They tend to take jobs that natives do not want. This frees up those individuals to take better paying jobs. For examplle, when they provide cheap landscaping services, someone has to manage them. It's not an illegal that is doing that!

Also, as Meg stated, they tend to consume a large chunk of that income, which boosts the local economy.
