I wouldn't break my water at home. You need to bbe in a hospital with professionals. You are putting you and your baby at risk of infection and you may not make it to the hospital and if the cord is wrapped around the neck you could have problems. Once the water is broke alot the baby drops lower and great preassure is put on your cervics to dialate it. IF the cord is wrapped around the neck it can tighten at stop the heart,

You don't! Even your doctor won't break your water unless you are admitted to the hospital. You are dangerous or ignorant or both. And I seriously wonder if you would make a suitable parent.
Once the water breaks or is broken there is a limited time before that fetus must be out of the uterus because the chances of infection are extremely high.

I wouldn't try breaking your water by your self you could cause harm to both you and your unborn baby.
If your looking to start your labor try eating spicy foods, having sex, going for a long walk i hear these can help but the most effective way I've seen is by taking a dose of Castor oil followed by a slice of orange (as the taste can be off putting the orange helps get rid of it).
My sister & a friend both did this and they went into labor the next day but i wouldn't do it until your at least 38 weeks that way you baby is finished growing.
Good luck, congradulations and i hope i have been helpful.

I had one of those plastic covers for the mattress, but mine broke in the kitchen, right after getting home from work. When I came home from the hospital, to see if I would go into labor on my own, we put the cover on the mattress and a towel under me, because I had a slow leak. But it wasn't even really necessary - they'd given me some of those big hospital pads and those got it all. I know it does happen to some people in bed, but really, my first thought was "Oh my God, I'm peeing" so I think you'd probably end up on your way or in the bathroom for most of it, even if you had a big gusher while you were sleeping.

I realize how desperate you get when you get to the end of your pregnancy, but that's just crazy! Some people's water doesn't even break until they are in the hospital and in active labor. If you want to get your labor going, that's a different thing altogether. Try walking, sex, or if you get desperate enough, I tried sitting on the washing machine, and also having my husband drive me over the railroad tracks at 30 mph.

Why would you want to induce your labor? Your body knows when the time is right. Breaking your own water is DANGEROUS and IRRESPONSIBLE. You will open the way for infection to set in which can be harmful for your baby as well as yourself. The amniotic fluid continues to replenish itself which will leave you wet, leaking, and uncomfortable.
I'm assuming you're @ or close to term. You've gone this long, you can wait a little while longer.

i agree with everyone else that it is very dangerous to try to do something like that yourself. Also, if you would do this, it does NOT mean that you are going to go into labor. Many women get their water broken at the hospital and that doesn't cause contractions or labor

Umm, you don't. You could severely hurt yourself and your baby. You are not living in a place that is clean enough.
If you want to get your labor started that bad, and are thinking about doing something that can hurt your baby or yourself. Then I would give your doctor a call.

Im 37 weeks and I cant take it anymore myself. My doctor told me to have lots of sex, walk, squats. But also try drinking a laxitive castor oil. It works. And its not unsafe if your after 37 weeks. All it does is clean out your bowls and as its doing so it helps you contract. Look it up. I know tons of women who have done it and have healthy babies. I asked my ob he said it was fine. And that if i wanted to sit on the toilet for a while well to have fun. lol. So needless to say i just bought a bottle. Lets see what happens. Good luck to you.

Wow that is a very desperate measure don't you think? Stop stressing...your baby will come when it's the right time. Why risk infection or complications?
