I know this sounds crazy, but I was told this last week at a party. Apparently there's this growing number of people who think it might be the same person. I just did like 100 google image searches for them and couldn't find one picture of the two of them together in the same place at the same time.
The idea is that the person who created both "personas" wanted to portray two opposites for the world - American/British, straight/gay, actor/musician... Mr. Holland's Opus was supposed to be a bridge between the two and no one got it, supposedly. If you re-watch the movie you can see there are all these side comments about England, and they keep talking about splitting oneself in half to form two different people, and in one scene Holland keeps taking his round glasses off and putting them back on again. Kind of like HELLO!!!

They were also both born in the same year - 1947. Coincidence?

Can anyone shed any light on this for me, please? Has anyone else heard of this?

what!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that's crazy talk they're definitely two different people where have you heard that nonsense???? Elton John has been knighted so, it's Sir Elton John. Richard Dreyfuss is an actor that's been in movies since the american grafitti and before that. I don't even think they're close in age. He's American and Sir Elton is a Brit. now he's been in the music bus. probably as long as dreyfuss has been an actor. But no way could they be the same person!

I heard this too and read up on it online and I believe it now!!!

Google image each of them and really look at their pictures - they look VERY similar.

Apparently it's a life long hoax by some mystery person to try to bring people together through acting and music, and proving that anyone can be anything.

The Mr. Hollands Opus clues are so obvious when you watch the movie realizing that it is really "Elton John" acting the part of Mr. Holland! It is totally crazy - and awesome!!

They're not the same. They don't even look the same, sound the same, or act the same. Maybe they're not even friends. And no, I've never heard of what you're talking about but it's a totally nutso theory!
