My baby is 8 lbs 2 oz. we are feeding her around 2 oz. every 3-4 oz. she would drink more if we would let her but we don't want to over feed her. She is very fussy, even after we feed her. Very fussy, clean diaper, warm, no temp. just can't figure anything out but to feed her more. Went for check up and she was great physically. What should we do and how much should we feed her.

Maybe she isn't getting enough to eat? If she is hungry -- feed her. period.
You CANNOT over feed a baby!
My son was born 8lbs. 6oz. and ate 4 oz. every 3 hrs.
DO NOT deprive your child of food because you are afraid of over feeding them! If she gets "too much" she will spit it up.
Better too much than not enough!!

Try giving her one or two ounces at a time, if after eating that she's still fussy try giving her one more ounce. Babies tend to self regulate so they won't overeat.

I breastfed on demand, forget all about following the 2-3 hour rule. As long as the baby is having good bowel movements (5-6 diapers per day) and the doc is saying everything is ok, I would not obsess over how much she's eating.

Since I breastfed it was hard to determine how much he was eating, but there were days where he was eating every hour and even every 30 mins. Once we made it past the 4 week mark, he got better and got back to a 3-4 hour routine.

Good luck!

Babies most likely won't over eat. Being that she is over 8 lbs and healthy, I would feed her the 4 to 6 oz. every couple of hours.
If she is crying at the same time everyday and pulling her legs up like she is in pain, it could be colic or just gas. Burb after every 2 oz.
Being a new parent is very hard when your baby cries. Just take a deep breath and take turns with the baby.

OMG feed that baby until she is SATISFIED! You cannot overfeed a 4 day old baby! All they're drinking is liquid, they're going to eat several times a day and at 4 days, probably up to 4oz. Babies do not know the meaning of overeating. The only thing that might happen, is that they have gas, which would be the result of you not burping them, and they think they are hungry and keep eating and eating and eating until they puke it up. Remedy? Burp them every couple of ounces... But that never happened to me until they were at least a month old. You FEED that baby and let her eat until she refuses the nipple. Overfeeding isn't what you should be worried about right now, underfeeding is. That baby will know that she's not hungry and turn away. You don't limit a newborns feedings!!! Educate yourself!!!!!

Hi when I was a first time mother I thought the same thing as you ...feed them 2oz. ever 2or3 hours just like the books say, but that deffinetly does not work. My son would not sleep at night and was constantly fussy. As soon as my mother told me feed him if he's hungry I did and he slept through the night from that night on. Also you should put a spoonful of baby cerel in the bottle when the baby is about a month old and you can add more as the baby gets older. If you do this right before bed time you will deffinetly have a baby that is more content and sleeps better....Good luck to you.

My son was 8 pounds 8 onces at birth and he would at least eat 4 ounces every two to three hours. mix up four ounces of formula and feed your baby until the baby is full. In my opinion, that 2 ounces of formula is not enough for that size of baby. That might be why the baby cries when the baby is finished.

Feed her until she is satisfied. Don't take it upon yourself to put her on a diet so she won't be chunky, when the doc says to feed her less then do it. You never know she may only want a 1/2 oz more. She will be a much happier baby if she isn't hungry.

Stop the formula feedings...it will only disrupt your milk production. Send someone to a store to purchase Mother's Milk tea for you. Drink 2 cups daily and keep your baby on your breast as often as she wants. The harmony pump is great. You shouldnt really need a pump at this time. No formula is best

While your baby was in uterus the umbilical cord provided babies food 24/7. Try to get her on schedule. Every three to four hours by letting her cry a bit. Then let her feed till she is not hunger. Some babies just like to suck. Some even sucked while in the belly. A special pacifier made not to hurt the teeth would be good. And eight pounds is a good weight for a baby that age. 4 to 6 is good but she'll let you know.
