Because a 'truth' is a piece of 'reality' that can be verified. While a 'lie' is soon unmasked as just that.

TRUTH hurts more because there is reality in it. It ISN'T MADE UP like a LIE. It's an irreversible fact that the ugliest of it is the most difficult to digest. It slaps one's face right then and there without an excuse. It cuts all the way to the core of one's ego.
A LIE which is just invented is naked of all truth, and therefore acceptable of its reason. Being not true, anyone can shrug his shoulder or laugh over it. It doesn't attack one's pride. It's a statement or comment that is easily blown up and burst thenafter...leaving no wound behind...except stain of deceit.

I do agree that the truth hurts and in some cases it is better not to say what is true. If it is kinder to your brothers and sisters then so be it. As for replacing the truth with a lie? I would feel uncomfortable with that one, surly it is better to be vague or say nothing at all?

Because we are habituated living in the world of lies. That is why when a mesaiah comes and gives the truth to the people they crucify him as the truth is bitter to the people and they are used to live inside the safe blanket of lies .They feel insecure when anybody tries to tell them the truth and bring them out of it .The mind always tries to follow the same old tread paths and anything new it is unconvincing and bitter.

I think lies generally hurt more than truth. For example, a couple years ago my mom had to have surgery. Apparently it was for something fairly minor, but they thought it was something a lot more serious for months before-hand. She never told me. I found out when I came home from school the day she had the surgery. (apparently she told my sister way before I found out) But in the months before I could tell something was wrong. She kept getting phone calls and I would walk in on her talking with relatives and changing the subject really fast when I came in. I immediately figured it was something with her health, and it just made me more worried when she didn't tell me. I still haven't forgiven her. I don't take well to liars.

Sorry but it doesn't. People say that when something they believe turns out to be untrue. Especially if they honestly believed it. Lies hurt, as they are destroyed by the light of Truth.

Because, for whatever reasons, one prefers the lie. Taking the 'cherished' lie away is what hurts. (but not really)
Remember when you found out that there was no Santa Claus?

Ultimately lies hurt more than the truth.
Lies that are discovered causes ones total beliefs to come into question and wonder exactly "just what all have I been lied to about?"
Society has accepted "white" lies and bestows that it's OK in us as children by our parents. That is where the system is broken.

The truth can hurt just because its reality. Most people dont want to hear there reality and they want to stay in their own world so everything is perfect.Someone lying to you could be helpful in some ways.Just so you wouldnt have to deal with your reality.
