What are the dimensions of your final project? Is it to be an actual "book" with pages, or a poster type thing? (I know you said guidebook, but I don't want to assume anything.) Anyway, it would be helpful to know the size.
What grade is this for? What will you do to make it special, to make it stand out from the others? While you're waiting for the info on your question, have you gathered all the information you'll be needing, so you can get started on it? Do you have any crafting hobbies whose supplies can help you "jazz" up your book (like scrapbooking supplies - there're all kinds to choose from)? Do you need to take photos of any locations?
Staples does do laminating, as I'm sure other office supply stores do. I gave them a quick call to ask about their prices and was told that their custom department was closed, & to call this toll-free # tomorrow during store hours, which are probably from 8am-5pm EST (and those hours are just a guess).

I know Office Max laminates, but I don't know about Staples, although I would assume they do. Don't know about the cost. Call them and ask. Another alternative is if it is regular 8 1/2 X 11 sheets there are things that are called sheet protectors that you can slip your pages into. They are clear plastic with holes punched in them for a binder. Wal-Mart also has laminating sheets that don't need heat for full sheets of paper in their stationery department. Didn't notice the cost. The sheet protectors are around 25 sheets for $2 or $3. I don't recall exactly. You can find those at Wal-Mart or Target or Office Max or Staples.

I think staples does laminating, but so do many other office supply stores. If you know someone who works at one of these places, they may be able to get a reduced rate for a student.
If you want to get somewhat the look of laminating but a little easier to accomplish, try the plastic sleeves you use for reports, etc. You can get them at staples, walmart, etc.

You can go to Kinko's but I'm not sure how much they charge. They best thing to do is bring it in and have them tell you. They will look at how large your project it and go from there.
