Becuse the cities of New York and Boston have always been rivals, from even before there was baseball.

Books have been written on this subject. The Yankees and Red Sox have been rivals since they entered the American League, and the Yankees got to New York from Baltimore. New York and Boston have been called Athens and Sparta by Peter Gammons. New York fancies itself as the world's capitol, while Boston thinks of itself as the intellectual capital.
The two teams battled for years until 1920, when the Red Sox sold Babe Ruth to the Yankees and went into decline for a quarter-century. The rivalry revived in the 1940's and 1970's when both teams were good. It obviously has reached a peak in interest in the past 10 years, as baseball interest in general has gone up in a lot of ways.
I'm no Yankee fan, but I have plenty of respect for many of their players. Rivera, Jeter, Posada, Pettitte -- classy gentlemen all. And Joe Torre tops the list, which is why Steinbrenner's statement before Game Three was so ridiculous. On the other side, guys like Varitek, Ortiz and Lowell are pros. Terry Francona has shown plenty of class and humor in his years on the job.

The Yankees-Red Sox rivalry began back in 1920 when Babe Ruth still played for the Red Sox. Sox owner Harry Frazee didn't have enough money for his movie business, so he traded Ruth to the Yanks for cash. From that point on the Yankees have become a dynasty and the Red Sox were cursed with "the Curse of the Bambino" (It's called the Bambino because Babe's nickname was the Bambino)
but now that we won in 04 the curse is dead and now we Sox fans say, "HELLO GOD. I HAVE FINALLY MET YOU."

When babe Ruth was sold to the YANKEES.
You sir, are a typical stupid YANKEES fan. You "HATE" the RED SOX, and it's their manager specifically, and you don't even know about BABE RUTH's sale to your favorite NY YANKEES?
You are a perfect example as to why YANKEE fans are universally disliked by all other fans in the world of baseball! Didn't you hear that USA TODAY recently proclaimed the RED SOX as AMERICA'S TEAM taking over the spot that used to be held by the YANK-MEES!
Specifically based on the country wide fan support of RED SOX NATION!!!

So you claim you like the Yanks and hate the Red Sox. But you have no idea why you should hate the Red Sox? Sounds band wagoner to me.
