3.4 out of 4.0?

it's as easy as 3.4/4 = 85%

If we were to determine that a 3.4 is slightly below a B+ (>3.5), and that on most grading scales a B+ is above 85%, but that 3.4 is also significantly higher than a B which is usually 80%; then the 3.4 = 85% conclusion is valid.

It can't be an 88 (B+) or a 90 (A) because a B+ has to be above 3.5 and a 90 would be a 4.0 (as would a 99) on a 4.0 scale.

Reality though is that GPA on a standard scale and grade percentage are apples and oranges. One can't truly equal the other unless we're only talking about a couple classes.

it would depend on what 3.4 is out of. If it is out of 4.0, then a 3.4 would be in the range of I would say 83-85.
