Scrabble is not about competition it's about kudos. The whole point of owning the most boring nerdy game on earth is to let other people see it and draw the conclusion that you must be some kind of intellectual. My favorite strategy to achieve this effec t is to set up the board with words like marajuana, establishment, iteration and deuterium laid out in simulation of a mega game and then when your friends comment on it you just say " Oh I've been meaning to put that away but I had to wheel Stephen Hawking back to his taxi after our game yesterday and then I forgot all about it"

So glad to see someone asking the really gritty questions at last.
