I was reading some of the answers given to questions here and noticed that a lot of words,or probably the words most commonly used contained what looked like to me the number three in it.

Is it indeed the number three or is it an E backward? And if it is the number three what are you using it to stand for.

Im just curious.

It looked like this--3-with letters around it.

Have a wonderful day you all and thanks for asnwering.

dear....we use 3 instead of an arabic letter that cannot be pronounced in english. it is called 3ein=ain...no one can pronounce it except if he know eastern languague..
that is why you see 3 here so many times.

the 3 sound is glottal, ie, comes from where you pronounce the glottal stop, but it isnt a stop , it is pronounced with vibration .
the closest in english would be like when you dont like something , and you articulate a sound to express this. but in arabiic , it doesnt signify dislike, it functions in nouns or verbs like any other consonant.
i wish you a great day .
your question is interesting bec it shows how careful you are in reading answers .

When typing arabic in latin words, some letters in the arabic alphabet don't exist in the latin alphabet accordingly we use the most close number to the shape of that letter. 3 is the closest shape to one of the arabic letters ع (but reversed).
the most common numbers used between us are 2, 3 and 7. Hope I cleared it up a bit :)

You're most welcome hon :)
