I'm waiting for the results of a urine culture, but I have a question. The doctor looked at the urine under the microscope and said the urine looked clear and he didn't see white blood cells. He used a catheter to collect the urine since I'm having my period right now. When he went to insert the catheter, he mentioned the urethra was constricted.

I have all the other symptoms of a UTI, but if my urine is clear, could I still have an infection? What other types of things could cause frequent urination and constant urge to urinate?

Please don't say "see a doctor", I already am, just looking for information while I wait. Thanks.

Yes, it could still be a urinary tract infection even if the cultures come back normal.

Another possibility too is something called Interstitial Cystitis which can cause inflammation inside the bladder and cause symptoms that are like a UTI when there isn't one there.
