I thought about a wonderful plan to attack someone's reputation. If you create an account on Meetup, MySpace, Facebook, etc. and use a person's name on all of these, chances are these pages will pop up first on a search engine when somebody types his name. If I used someone's name and possibly photos on these websites and then tried to ruin his reputation by making the accounts join derogatory groups (example, on all these websites he would join a gambler's club, a drugs club or even a pedophile convention!), could I get caught/sued for trying to attack that person's reputation?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, you could get sued by several people. The terms and conditions of MySpace prohibits falsely identifying yourself. They could sue you. The person you impersonated could sue you for identity theft and liable. Depending on what else was involved you could run in to issues with the law concerning anti-hacking laws.

You are not the first person to come up with this plan.

Yes you can and probably will be sued. You would also not be the first that happened to either.

It is also a form of identity theft. You could get it for that too.

Oh yeah. Not only is that a high-tech form of identity theft, but it's libel. You could be sued and arrested.
