This equation is in the form y = m(x - h)^2 + k
and when in this form the vertex coordinates are given as the point (h, k), which is (2, 5) in this case

can i cheat...

y=3(x-2)^2+5=3(x^2-4x+4)+5=3x^2-12x+17
y'=6x-12
if y'set to 0, then 6x=12., x=2 and y=5
