1. calories- if you taste everything you make, and every time you add something, that can easily add up to a few hundred calories, even before the meal is ready.

2. she wants to make you happy- she wants you to know and appreciate her efforts by sharing the process with you. Sappy, but true.

Look, having cooked for more years than I care to think about, I can tell you that probably they HAVE tasted it at various stages, and asking you to taste it, is not to check if its revolting or something, its in the hope of getting your opinion on the taste, as its not something they have tried before. Maybe getting your input on whether it needs more spice, salt or whatever, so it comes closer to what YOU'D like.
If you don't want them to care whether it is something you'd like too, just refuse to try it. Then you'll get something that they think is good, without your input.

A dancer does not know he/she is a great dancer until they are told. A cook knows that a dish, recipe, etc. is good when they see the pleasure of it on those who taste it for the first time. This is called giving one love through food--others call it sacrifice or an offering.

To see if you really love them. Women really dont want your honest opinion, when they ask for an opinion, what they are really asking is you appreciation/praise for what they are doing. If you speak your mind, you will only get in trouble.

Since they are the ones doing the cooking its better to keep your mouth shut if you dont like their cooking. They just want to be praised every now and then so that it makes the chore of cooking worth the trouble.

We want to see if you like it! It's disappointing to prepare something new, taste it and really like it only to find out that you don't. We are making you food and all we ask is that you taste it first - hmmm.....

Women do taste the results of a new recipe. They just want a second opinion, to see if it is the same as theirs. If I like it and my husband likes it . It is good. Sometimes I don't like it and he also confirms that.
