You could soften the glass using a blow torch before placing a heavy object on top to mould the glass into a new shape.

If you wanted to melt the bottle altogether...a furnace is about your only other option...and you'll be looking at temps of about 1000-1200 deg C

When we go camping at the lake and start a campfire, we melt beer bottles all the time...

A hot fire will melt it.
An glass blower melts bottles all the time.
Probly an oxy-acetaline torch will do the trick

...you can melt the bottle in a kiln...it will flop over into the funniest shapes...old Coke bottles use to be melted like this and sold at gift shops....they may still be for all I know..

Glass is already a liquid; it won't "melt" but it will get softer with increasing temperature.
