What is a 'chair rung' mean, here it is in a sentance 'she tried to find out why, but when I just kept looking out the window, banging my feet on the chair rung, she sighed and let me stay with the stucco woman.' Does anyone know wat it means?? and the part of speech [[noun probably..?]]

The bar that runs around the legs of a chair, usually near the bottom.

I think it means a stretcher which is a piece of wood which is fixed horizontally between the legs of a chair about halfway up the leg to keep it rigid. So as a kid if you could not reach the floor you would rest your feet on the piece of wood or in the case of your book you could bang your feet on it to annoy the adults!
