You are absolutely right. Guns (even handguns) do not ever kill people (ie crawl out of a drawer and sneak through the house at night, seeking whom it can kill), people kill people and if they have no hand gun, then they use ball bats, knives, or whatever is handy, even hatchets or hammers. Remember Lizzy Borden? Lizzy Borden took an axe and gave her father 40 whacks, and when she saw what she had done, turned and gave her mother 41! She never was convicted, either, for some reason. Happy trails, as Roy Rogers used to say. :)

Not all liberals do. Quite a few are pro-2nd amendment rights. But yeah, when some victim disarmament bill comes up, it's usually liberals pushing it.
I think a lot of them just fall into line to become a stereotype, what they think a "liberal" should be. Since conservatives are usually pro-gun rights, they have to be the opposite. I noticed on the old Yahoo boards how libs were all pretty much the same and cons were pretty much the same, and they were almost always the exact opposite of each other. Any dissent and you were the enemy. Look at Joe Lieberman. He had to run as an independent in 2006 because he wasn't a stereotypical liberal and therefore didn't win the Democratic primaries.

I would have to say it's the idea that guns are bad- that somehow a utopian society could exist if no one owned guns. However that is totally based in fiction, because everyone who really thinks about it would come to the conclusion that self preservation is pretty high on everyone's priority list and there are just some people who are violent. It's not like taking guns away from law abiding citizens is going to make criminals stop and say "hey- maybe I should give up my guns too" or that criminals ever get them through legal means. It's our right to bear arms in the USA.

That's generalizing. I am usually liberal, and I love guns. I think overall, liberals are relying more on statistics and real situations in which guns have shown to be more harmful than helpful. An example would be that people are more likely to have a gun kill someone they love on accident than in a situation with a robber in their home. That in turn, means that there are a larger number of people killing people they don't mean to, hence a reason not to have guns. It's more of a matter of what would be a general good overall, and given the above example, guns wouldn't fall into an overall good.

Because they seem to be the only ones who wonder why the USA has the highest death rate by guns than any other comparable society.
So it basically boils down to thinking and they seem to be much better at it than others.

I guess some people think guns can fire themselves or that people are too stupid to choose a different weapon.
(By the way, you're generalizing. Not all liberals think like that.)

not all do.
but it's hard to make sweeping generalizations when one actually stoops to facts.

Excuse your ignorance, but I am a Liberal, and I have a rifle. I only object to HANDGUNS. Those are made to kill PEOPLE, and I object to murder.
