In the long run; is it better to rent an apartment or to rent / 'rent to own' a house?
Especially when you're a first time renter...

A house. You may have a little more to pay in utilities (I've rented both, and it wasn't that much higher, like $20), but there is SO much more privacy in the house. You don't hear people through the walls, ceiling or have to step lightly on the floor. Also, in an apartment there may not be a washer or dryer or hookups so you'll have to go to the laundry, and sometimes you can rent a house cheaper and get more space than a house.

They say buy, but ever since I stopped renting and bought my house, I'm doing 3 three jobs a week and still worried about this or that. I'd say, kill your ego and rent. If the houses burns, or goes to pot, you wont lose sleep.

Rent an apartment because the utilities are higher on a house.
