I have a textbook that is really long and hard to read, and I need help memorizing the two chapters. If i use my computer to type up the whole two chapters, will that be more effective in memorizing than just reading the chapter?

It varies on what kind of learner you are. Although it is tedious, it is helpful in many ways.

I used to type up my history note when I was in college. It helped me a little but I'm a math techy type so I only got a C and a D. I am just not very good at liberal art type courses. The only one I ever did halfway good in was American literature. It was the symbolism that fascinated me and for some reason I was good at seeing it accurately. Got a B+

In German I did OK and used a lot of home made memory flash cards. I got a B in that and it was a five credit course. Thanks for getting me to remember that, I feel better now.....lol

It would just make me really, really bored. For some people, it's easier to memorize if you read it, write it, and say it out loud. See what works for you.

Are you a visual learner? If you are than that may help you, but it can be long and tedious to type out a text book.

That depends on the person who needs to do he memorization. I don't think that it would help me.

I think it would help. It would make you focus on it more. I also agree with long hand too.

Try it and see if it works for you. Writing out, long-hand, always worked for me.
