Mariah is good but having such a wide range does not equal best...Christina Aguilera is good too..and also Beyonce, she's creative with her voice and it sounds good :o)
oh and Samantha Jade is good too

Kate Bush by far. She has been since the age of 16 when she first sung Man with the Child In His Eyes which is beautiful..
i agree with some others though, amy winehouse has a pretty cool voice and so did whitney houston, but shes weird now lol

Amy Winehouse, Mary J. Blige, Barbara Streisand, Aretha.
They all sing like it's no effort and have fantastic strong voices without screeching like Celine Dion or Mariah.

Looks up to previous answers... Well, SOMEONE is a disney girl huh? But honestly - Christina Aguilera is pretty amazing. However I'd have to suggest a more sweet sounding voice like Jewel. She is also pretty strong in some of her songs.
