I'd agree with that except most teachers are way too liberal to have anything to do with firearms. Then would they be able to pass a firearms course?
I am in favor of it under those circumstances. Paper airplanes would be the least of their problems I'm sure. However, if they could knock the paper airplane out of the air on the move, then I would say that commands a lot of respect.
You would never find a school that would allow it though.

Sounds like he was, but thankfully he abided by the rules of the teaching profession and never actually stepped out of place with you. He could have been what they say just a tactile person, but the longer than normal gaze into your eyes makes me suspect that he was not just tactile he was interested in you. Of course there is another aspect and another way of looking at this too, automatically when we are young females we view the opposite sex in a more sexual way, not stopping to think for a moment that an older person appears to like us for any other reason than they are attracted to us. And sometimes this can be oh so wrong. That teacher may have seen something within you that reminded him of himself at the same age, or someone that is or was very close to him, he may be seeing the goal you had within to do well at your studies. But whatever the reason, I am glad to hear that he did not over step the mark, for his would have been the biggest punishment of all- prosecuted and never allowed to teach again.

the trouble is teachers want to teach and that's what they are trained to do! if they carry a gun and feel they are forced to use it they then become killers! I'm pretty sure they didn't have this in mind when they did their teacher training.
Also if you kill someone it would take a long long time to get over it especially a child! in fact would you ever get over it!
i personally think that problem children should be herded up and sent to a boot camp with trained staff to dish out corporal punishment if they step out of line in with teaching the curriculum. This way it keeps them away from Normal children who actually want to learn, protects the teachers and hopefully they can be corrected into being normal human beings>

No one should be forced to carry a gun against their beliefs, but we should allow teachers who have the desire to get the training and carry concealed.
Schools shouldn't be armed camps with teachers all gunned up like robocop, but *someone* needs to be there to protect the children against either other children or outside agressors.
Police simply cannot respond fast enough to stop the mayhem, and if you arm the on-campus security, they'll just be the first ones shot.
Of course, any teacher who advertises that they carry will also risk being the first shot, but that's the decision they get to make.

YES!!!! ahh! Im so glad someone agree's with me... I believe they should have the choice to carry if they want to, but I mean, i think even students should be able to. Of course if they are of age and everything is legal. I'm tellin ya, when i turn 21, (1 year from tomorrow! lol) I will be carrying even in school because just like at the VA tragety, if just ONE student would have had some type of gun, they could have killed that crazy ***, and he wouldnt have taken 34 innocent lives. People think that GUNS kill when it really the PEOPLE pulling the trigger... so kudos to you for believing in this bc it is soooo true. :)

I tottally disagree teachers are not the most level headed people! They deal with a ton of stress on a daily basis and what happens when they snap and boom start shooting kids because they've had it! Then what do you say to those parents, well we armed the teachers for there protection thinking they were level headed and sane, im sorry they killed your kid!
What happens when huge football playing angry kid ( just using size for example) gets super pissed hits the teacher knocks them out and then takes the gun and starts shooting people!
I don't think allowing teachers to carry guns is going to be the correct solution to the problem! I think it starts with screening the EVERYONE that walks through the door with metal detectors, Proper guidence for kids that need it, and proper training for teachers and staff to spot problems!

Personally, I do not like the idea...there's just too many kids around for things to go wrong. HOWEVER, I recently watched a series of videos about terrorists targeting our schools. I posted a link to the videos on my blog a couple of weeks ago here: http://www.teaching-tips-machine.com/blog
Watching these videos makes me wonder if arming teachers is not such a bad idea...

Although the overall percentage may be small the total number of teachers who are unbalanced in one way or another is high. Even if there were only two such teachers in a school it is too many. I would not like to see any teacher armed.

26 shootings at a US school since Columbine. It is an attack on our kids - this is why it often gets the call for guns in schools.
6.2 million teachers in the US. - arm them, and there will be more shootings. unfortunate but true.
I know you said this as a joke. But if we ban cars from our schools, we'd save more lives.
Seriously - look around your campus. would you want all of them to be armed? think back on your craziest teacher. now he's your craziest teacher with a gun. *shudder*

Agree totally! Children would think twice before saying "The dog ate my homework" or "I forgot my gymn kit" if they knew they would be shot! We could also provide teachers with rocket launchers for sorting out those annoying playground disturbances.
