I thought I was special in their life. Am I being naive? Wondering if this person is just trying to gain alot of friends. What's the deal?

Why don't all you girls print a copy of your email and leave them on his desk so he knows that none of you are falling for his BS. He was hoping you would be naive enough to fall for it. I hope all of you deserve better then a player.

It sounds like he is operating one of those "I have 38 million dollars I will send you if you give me all your bank account information scams".
The only difference is he it running a confidence game for sex.

If he sends enough of these out he will eventually find some mark who will buy it.
