Mine here (Bolivar, Missouri, about 70 miles north of Branson), is reasonable. I was originally from SW Illinois, near St.Louis, and they were annoying there, but better than some. An interesting idea is that here in Missouri, independent companies run driver's license offices (in Missouri they are supervised by the dept of revenue), and if a company does a bad job of running an office, the state contract to run them is given to another company once their contract expires.

I live in a large metropolitan area, and the main DMV downtown is a nightmare. I will never go back there. The last time I did, I waited in line for hours only to be told that I had to go to a different building to get a tax statement. Then I had to get at the end of the line again.
Out here in the burbs though, the DMV is much smaller and the lines move quicker. If you have to get a tax statement it is about 30 steps away, and when you get it you are the next in line at the other counter. They are friendly and use manners there too.

It's terrible around Colorado. They made our renewal dates for every ten years to alleviate the crowds.
