1) Genetics- Men as you know have testosterone which does in fact lead to more aggressive behavior. If a girl had high testosterone levels in her system, she would be more prone to violence. This is a fact.
2) Social Life- When boys are young, they are commonly given toys that teach aggressive behavior, like plastic swords, guns and other similar toys. This teaches young kids violence at a young age. When they get a little older, they play violent video games and so on.
Proof that Male's are naturally more aggressive can be found in suicide studies. Girls attempt to commit suicide 4x more then boys, yet more boys actually follow through with the act then a girl.
Also, when a boy attempts to take his own life, they often use violent methods, such as shooting or stabbing themselves, or throwing themselves off a buildings. Girls however try to avoid using a violent means to end their life, and would take a painless way, such as taking pills.
To sum this up, It's mainly the Testosterone levels in Men that make us more susceptible to violent and aggressive behavior.

It has something to do in how boys are raised. Boys look up to men that have that "mainly man" image. This is usually represented by someone that has big muscles, shoots guns, hunts, etc. Just an overall tough guy. I think guns are just a big thing that alot of boys or males in general think about. I dont know any girls that grow up with a fascination with guns unless they are a daddy's girl and goes hunting. Even still, it isnt a big thing with girls.
I also think that testosterone and increased aggression in males is what drives them to violence. I can say for a fact that testosterone levels make a man more aggressive and ready to fly off the handle. I had low testosterone levels due to a medical condition and I was very at peace with things. I never got mad or angry, i let things slide. When my doctor advised me to take testosterone therapy, i felt much more aggresive and felt more dominant.
Just my two cents though....I could be wrong!

Males are naturally more aggressive.... Also, a school massacre is a messy thing - girls don't like mess.
You can see a parallel in Suicide and shootings.
Men - higher suicide success rate.... they follow through!
Women - try to kill themselves in a non-messy way, like in the tub. Women threaten more as a cry for help, and either don't follow through or stop in the middle of the act.
For the shootings, males are more prone to follow through with the thoughts and threats, don't' worry about the mess it will create, and also can separate themselves from the emotional aspect of murder.. like how the families will feel, the lives they are about to take, how their own parents will react... They concentrate on their own emotions and motives.... Where females have a tendency to be more receptive to the feelings of others....

Excellent observation....
Women have a different way of handling stress. They cry, the get depressed, they are more open talking things over with friends.
Men are more into physical strength by nature. A normal guy can lift heavier objects than the average woman. Of course there are exceptions....
Boys are told that crying is a sign of weakness and they withold they anger, fear and frustration deep within.
When the conditions are too much to handle most men react vigorously raising their voice, banging on the desk and if some are pushed too far and they have some twisted non-justifiable killer instincts , they may go to extremes.

To be honest with you, women have the advantage in our society on certain things. First of all, it is OK to express their emotions while men are not allowed to or would be made fun of and be considered "weak:".
Second, women know how to talk about them while men cannot and even if someone is giving them a hard time, women get even by backbiting. TO the men, its considered manly to take care of the problems ourselves by action. Unfortunately we are not taught in school what actions are available to us that are socially acceptable that we can use to confront the situation (other then tell us to ignore it which rarely works), so violence ends up being the only solution they can think off.
When a person uses violence in school such as this, they tend to feel overwhelmed and powerless about their lives. Its them lashing out in desperation.

When a male child is born, he's treated differently than females. It seems as if he is thought to be tougher and less likely to"break" as the older people like to say.
A female is usually treated with kid gloves. (another old saying). We handle the babies differently, especially the male figure in the family does this.
As the male matures, he's more likely to act out violently, maybe because society expects this of him. Maybe from the roughness he's experienced from role models in his life.

males have a completely different mind set than females. i think in most of the males who commit the shootings have a bad time expressing their anger so they just hold it in, and eventually explode. females also take time to really think about what they do, but im not saying guys are absolutely retarded and dont think about things before they do it cause we all do that. and we all make mistakes. males i believe just have a different perspective on certain things.

The same reason why males are more likely to succeed at killing themselves.
Males are taught to be actors, while females are taught to be feelers. A female is more likely to think about the actions, while a male is more likely to go through with it.

I don't know why, but I think the real question is all these kids that have done shooting have been on some sort of medication. But nobody seems to want to link the medication to the shootings. I think that is very interesting. What is in these medications that are triggering suicide and shooting sprees on our children? Are these meds even safe for the teenage brain, which is going through a lot of chemical changes on its own naturally?
