If I called the police because my friend ate a goldfish when he or she was drunk.........the police would probably bill me to pay back the tax payers.

First of all, why are you admitting to this to a worldwide website? Surely you know little or nothing will come of this?

I have to ask if you cooked the fish first, because if you didn't, then I have some bad news for you. Goldfish are mainly imported from Japan and Singapore where Aquatic TB runs riot. Fish TB is what is classed as a Zoonosis which is an animal disease which is tranferable to humans, with slightly more horrific symtoms than that of the animal. An Example would be that turtles can carry salmonella without it affecting them and yet Humans can die within weeks of catching it.

Fish TB is a little more nasty than that. You catch it through ingestion of fish water or through cuts in your skin coming into contact with water or fish slime. In your case you swallowed a goldfish. Its not a case of your stomach acid will break it down, but more a case of your throat and mouth, and windpipe now have a nice layer of mucus which is first going to affect your breathing, then attack your circulation.

One into digits and limbs, the infection causes severe outbreaks of rashes which then develop postules of pus and can lead to death of certain parts of the limb or digit. Thats about it and its the worst case scenario of course, but get yourself checked out as soon as because its treatable more at an early stage.

And all those out there thinking I'm trying to scare the guy, I'm not, I know people who have been really ill with fish TB and its no joke.

OK, first of all, as disgusting as I find that (I can't begin to imaging the sort of nasty chemicals on that fish) the police won't come because they can't prove you ate it. I'm pretty sure it will be mostly digested and will be unidentifiable when and if it comes out. Plus who would want the job of looking through your excrement's for a goldfish. As far as animal cruelty goes, yes that was cruel what you did and your pet now just died an excruciating death as it's fins where slowly burned away by you stomach bile. Gross.

Well, the real question is did you chew, or did you just swallow? If you chewed, your going to jail, but if you swallowed it whole, you'll be fine.

Anyways, i doubt that the police will even take him serious, now the ones you have to worry about is those animal rights activists.
