I'm sorry, but being in the middle isn't an honest political philosophy. The stakes are too high to sit on the fence, afraid of taking a stand.
And I think you should reconsider your statement about the left. The Patriot Act came from the authoritarian right,as did warrantless wiretapping,as did rendition,as did the denial of habeas corpus.

Aw, come on!
There are some places in California too beautiful for liberals, and places in the south too nice for conservatives!
Why not bundle all the extremists in both parties into a big potato sack and kick the bejeezus outta those clowns?
I agree with you on what scares you...I coulda wrote those same words!
And it is a damn shame that the far left & far right are polarizing America.
It is causing fractures that are similar to what happened in Yugoslavia (now Bosnia, Serbia, Croatia, etc...).
Somewhere in these United States, are people willing to step up to the plate and try to get elected based on what we all have in common, NOT what separates "us" from "them".
In union, there is strength.

The extremes do not terrify me, they exasperate me by shrilling advocating their over-simplistic ideology as the answer for everything.
The left can't fathom the unintended consequences of what they want and the right doesn't care. We can't shut off the power plants and stop driving our cars this instant and we can't take government out of the boardroom and insert it into the bedroom.
About all the crazies are good for is that they inform us of things we might not be paying attention to that we should.
But leave the solutions to people that can actually think their way out of wet paper bag.

Partisanship is a hack, and both sides are severely hypocritical. The right preaches their Christian, pro-life ideals, yet at the same time, they lobby for a meaningless war. The liberals are all about freedom and equality, yet the true leftist nature of the party dictates otherwise. I agree with you 100%.

I'm in the middle but nothing about either side scares me.
It's not fear that strikes my heart, it's shame. Shame that our government is so caught up in childish name-calling and power trips that they can't work together to do things for the benefit of our country's people OR our country's troops. We elected them, and they should be working for us.

I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm--neither hot nor cold--I am about to spit you out of my mouth.
