The resolution recognized “the Islamic faith as one of the great religions of the world,” rejected “hatred, bigotry and violence directed against Muslims, both in the United States and worldwide” and “[commended] Muslims in the United States and across the globe who have privately and publicly rejected interpretations and movements of Islam that justify and encourage hatred, violence and terror.”

Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.) dismissed the resolution as political correctness gone too far.

“This resolution is an example of the degree to which political correctness has captured the political and media elite in this country,” Tancredo said. “I am not opposed to commending any religion for their faith. The problem is that any attempt to do so for Jews or Christians is immediately condemned as ‘breaching’ the non-existent line between church and state by the same elite.”

First, try to make sure you have the right bill. It's not House Resolution 362. That one was for scholarships for math and science teachers (short answer). Your link is for H. Con. Res. 362 which is a completely different subject. 362 (the current one) simply expands on the Clinton policy from 1996. We do not need nor should we seek any form of approval from the UN to deal with our nations problems. There is enough evidence that, like Korea, Iran is enriching Uranium and that Uranium could easily end up in the wrong hands. These moves are necessary in the world and if you don't understand that then you are either too simple or too naive to even deserve an opinion on international politics.

For me the question remains what exactly do legislators do all day?
They listen to special interest groups for hours.
They pass this and condemn newspaper ads, armenian genocide (almost 100 yrs ago BTW)
Are they simply a bunch of position statement makers. Aside from adding 1 trillion to the deficit limit.
What do they actually do with their time and why are we paying thru the nose for all this?
I think its time to stop being interested in what they support or detract from and ask what are they actually doing for the american people.

Yep you won't hear anything from the "Freedom from Religion" camp about this resolution. zip nothing nada.

To them they consider Christianity more a threat to this world it doesn't matter that Muslims have killed more people than the Spanish Inquestion, killed by the KKK, or innocent people put to death.

Liberal hypocrits will smear Christianity in heartbeat but dare not say anything against Muslims.

Speration of church & state means in the liberal mindset Conservative Christians should say nothing but everyone else should.

Although Ken is correct, I'll comment: the House should not have passed the resolution. Politics and religion do not mix.

Tancredo is the man! The wimps who voted for that resolution are the same surrender-mongers who want us to stop fighting the terrorists and make nice with them. You don't negotiate with terrorists, you kill them. Those pacifistic cowards make me want to puke!

I think most people realize it is a big joke. They will tell you their religion comes first and we hate the western society.
So can we come there?
The government wants to make friends with the muslims and then in the next breath they say they are coming here to do terriorist attacks.
They change thier mind so much no one can keep up with do we like muslims or fear them?
