I'm proud to be an American for several reasons. First, I'm proud because of the great men that established this country. They hoped for a great neverending nation. I'm proud to say that I'm an American because of them. The second reason, is the principles our country was founded on. Love, Trust, and the helping of others has always been a major part of our society until now. I'm proud because of the overwhelming love towards each other. The third reason is our men and women in the Armed Forces. They risk their lives to preserve an ideal, of freedom and love. This is not to start a debate about the Iraq War, but that is what they personally are fighting for. The fourth reason, which is the final reason I'll list here, is the progression of ideas, that we have taken from others, and put into our own way of life. God Bless the USA.

Why am I proud to be an American?
-I can criticize the government (or lack of it), without having to worry about jackbooted thugs with guns coming to get me in the middle of the night.
-I, as a woman, have every right that a man does. I can own property, vote, have a job, and voice my opinion. Some places, women can't even go to the bathroom alone!
-I have the opportunity to raise my children in a (mostly) free thinking society....I HATE being told what to think.
-And most of all, I'm proud to be American, because we have the greatest country in the world, with thousands of brave men and women who are willing to die to defend it.

the past 7 years, it gets harder to say.
I used to say the tolerance, the dedication to justice and freedom, the commitment to correcting mistakes and making things better for everyone, but we're clearly in a major backslide these days.
