I agree with you.
I don't want some stressed out teacher freaking out and gunning down a classroom of kids.
If they arm the teachers (for their protection) then more kids will come to school armed (for their protection) and the risk of our kids being shot at school will be far greater.

The facts are in. Gun Rights Work.
In March 1982, 25 years ago, the small town of Kennesaw... unanimously passed an ordinance requiring each head of household to own and maintain a gun. ...Prior to enactment of the law, Kennesaw had a population of just 5,242 but a crime rate significantly higher (4,332 per 100,000) than the national average (3,899 per 100,000). The latest statistics available--for the year 2005-- show the rate at 2,027 per 100,000. Meanwhile, the population has skyrocketed to 28,189.
By comparison, the population of Morton Grove, the first city in Illinois to adopt a gun ban for anyone other than police officers, has actually dropped slightly and stands at 22,202, according to 2005 statistics. More significantly, perhaps, the city's crime rate increased by 15.7 percent immediately after the gun ban, even though the overall crime rate in Cook County rose only 3 percent. Today, by comparison, the township's crime rate stands at 2,268 per 100,000.
The experiment has been conducted. The facts are in. The verdict is passed.
GUN CONTROL DOES NOT WORK..... THE RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS, DOES.

R U kidding? England has extremely harsh gun control (NO civilian ownership of handguns) & Washington DC has a complete weapons ban & yet it's been a perennial favorite in the "Murder Capitol of the Country" contest for years & neither of these total ban measures have done a damn thing to control gun violence. They keep passing MORE of these moronic laws & it only affects people that go to a legitimate shop to purchase legal weapons, These people are not the problem. Law makers seem to feel that criminals are miraculously going to stop buying weapons because the law says they can't! Removal of all weapons is TOTALLY against the principals our country was founded on & it didn't work out to well where it's been done---Nazi Germany & the old Soviet Union.

If responsible people have self-defense firearms, violent criminals die before they kill others. My gun protects you, too, if you are near me. The police will always arrive AFTER the mess is made, cannot do otherwise in a free society. But armed civilians, uninfringed as the Second Amendment assures, would be present at the scene at the TIME. And everyone would be protected by 15-25% of society. Civilian gun owners don't miss as often as police, we hit what we aim at better than police, and mostly our shoots are legal. Look at the unbiased records of CCW states.
And for those who believe in soley arming the military and police, let me remind: Nazi Germany, USSR, Idi Amin, Cambodia, Armenia, and EVERYWHERE else the government has warred on the citizen.

I think you're only reading what you want to read, and the stories the media plays up. You should look up all the cases of people protecting themselves using guns and what happens in countries where guns are suddenly taken away from the populace (hint: it puts more power in the hands of the government and increases taxes). Also, the police department has no duty to protect individuals. It would be ridiculous to take the power of self-protection away from people and force them to depend on an agency that doesn't have to do anything to help them.

You must not read history, global issues, or economics. Try "More Guns, Less Crime." Compare NH and VT with MA or DC. Compare the US as a whole to the UK or France. You have to drown yourself to be amazed "that people think having guns make it safer." Wake up, look out the window.
