There has been much controversy about the show Kids Nation possibly violating labor laws. They managed to film it in New Mexico using loopholes in the law that have since been closed. They could not use children from California or New York. I noticed that the application for Kids Nation 2 requires a passport. Do you think they will get around the law by filming in another country and what is your opinion of that?

The kids are being paid $5000 each plus the possibility of $20,000 awards. The production company has tried to say it was a summer camp reality show and not a job.

CBS is having a hard time getting a second season going. They are taking applications but because of the controversy of the show and the legal issues, they have not been able to settle on a show location. It does appear that they might have to leave the country in order to do shoot a second season. Which is too bad, because the show is surprisingly good!
