Absolutely don't use a Q-tip. It will only push the stuff in farther.

When I had the same problem, my Doctor used a solution of 1 part each, warm water, Hydrogen peroxide and isopropyl alcohol.

He told me that I could do the same, if needed, using a bulb aspirator, (the thing they use to suck the snot out of a babies nose) which you can buy in any baby are in any story. He suggested doing it in the shower, so when the stuff comes off, it will go down the drain. Just suck in the water stuff and squirt it in the ear.

If it doesn't work, your ear may be infected, so it is swollen shut. You will need to see a doctor in that case, to get antibiotics.

He also told me that the stuff you pay $5 to $10 dollars for a few ounces is made from the same solution, which you can buy for a few bucks in a large bottle, so why waste your money.

edit: Dr Foo is correct. They do make those candles. They also have charged many sellers of these candles with fraud, assault (because it can injure people) and other crimes. They do not work and are dangerous. I have no idea how they were invented, but don't use them.

Draining Ear Wax

I have to have my ears syringed every year. Some say that once you have had it done once, then many people have to have it done regularly because the syringing causes damage to the little hairs in your ears that help work the wax to the edge of your ear naturally.

Anyway, forget all the 'over the counter' rinses and things they are crap. Best thing, used since anyone can remember is olive oil.... preferably a little warm to help speed up the process.

Just get a small syringe or similar and put a few drops in one ear while tilting your head. Leave for a few seconds to drain further into you ear canal and then bung your ear with just a small bit of cotton wool.

Do this with the other side, best times would be at night before bed. Continue to do this for at least a week and then book an appointment to have your ears syringed at the doctors.

If you do that above procedure properly, the wax will flow out of your ears within a few seconds.

NOTE: It's best to go to the doctors and check the state of your ears first, you may have an ear infection, not just wax build up.

You also should not use anything other than proper kits or the doctors to syringing your ears as too much pressure will damage your ear drum.

There are a couple of different ways to get the wax out of yout ears.

Your local health food store (not GNC) and some pharmacies may have "ear candles." These do work, but the process can put you in an uncomfortable position while you are doing it.

The method that I prefer is to put a few drops of olive oil into the ear, then insert a piece of cotton and leave it in all night. Do this for 2 or 3 nights. The third day, use a bulb syringe (the kind used to clean out the nose of babies) to GENTLY rinse the ear canal with warm water. When you do this, hold your head over a sink to prevent a large mess. You may have to flush each ear several times. After the wax is removed, you might feel some tenderness, so insert a few drops of olive oil to sooth the ear canal.

To prevent ear wax from building up, I usually flush out my ears every time I take a shower, and I use a qtip to dry the canal (being very careful not to insert it too far or to put pressure on the ear drum.

there are a few things you can do. WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT USE A Q-TIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! first instinct is to use it, but they are not meant to enter the ear canal. What you need to do use buy an ear wax removal aid. such as, Murine ear drops and you can also go to your local drug store and get a wax removal syringe you will be able to do it at home but READ ALL DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU START!!!!!!!!
If it is in fact wax, the fact that it is clogging your ears probably means that it is too close to your ear drum. that happened to me and the doctor told me that it was almost embedded. so do i what i am advising, and make a doctor's appoiment as well. . if you cant get to a doctor and it is really making it unbearable, you can use a TINY drop of hydrogen peroxide. you should be able to hear a lot better shortly after, that doesn't mean that the wax is gone. wait like two days and then use the MURIE ear drops i was telling you about. good luck and i hope that i was of help to you

There is a kit you buy at the 'drug store'. It has a blue rubber bulb and a clear plastic tip. It also has some ear drops (that are mild hydrogen peroxide and a liquid cream lubricant.

Buy the kit. Put the drops in your ear (tilt your head to the side so it doesn't dribble out). Listen to the bubbling while it is working on the clogged wax. Then fill the bulb with warm water and wash out the wax. (Basically -- follow the directions in the package.)

Drip a little 3.5% H202 (hydrogen peroxide) into your ear - it won't hurt it and it will make a hole in the wax.

A few months ago, my ear was so badly blocked that the nurse at the local Medical Center used a powerful water pressure device to try to dislodge it with water which was scary but it did nothing.

She told me to keep putting linseed oil in it for several days to loosen it up, so I did that and went back for the water pressure treatment again, but that didn't work either.

I looked into ear candles but a friend told me he knew someone who tried it and it didn't work.

Then I thought of trying hydrogen peroxide since it has so many wonderful uses - so I did it, just one little drop, and it made a hole through the wax and cleared up the problem in an instant.

There was still wax there but I could hear again perfectly and the surrounding wax just seemed to gradually disappear on its own after a short while.

Fill a squeegee with lukewarm water and flush it a few times or more if you feel like something is definitely loosening up in that ear canal of yours. Be sure to tilt your head down so the water and wax runs out continuously. Or put a drop of baby or mineral oil in the ear and let it soak for a few minutes, then flush.

they make these wax rolled up cones that you put in your ear and light on fire. (I'm not making this up) as the wax burns it draws the ear wax into the cone. YOu hear it happening. Very cool. When you remove it you can look inside and you will be amazed at how much wax is in there. Go to a health food store and ask them. They are incredible and not very costly
