I'm trying to fix an old atv helmet. Will fleece take the shape of the inside without getting bunched up of pull off. I'm going to use spray adhesive to attach it. I just dont feel like sewing it into a sphere shape first I just want to stretch it and glue it.

good question....i am restoring an old arctic cat snow mobile helmet for the grand kids and i am still in the thinking stages. the outside is great the inside needs work...fleece like other fabrics will bunch up. but take note on how they stitch an X in the top of a stocking hat....that should help with the bunching and give it some shape....maybe a stocking hat is just the thing, or like that......something with a lot of stretch, spray adhesive and a strong balloon. spray the inside of the helmet, add the loose knit stocking hat and blow up a balloon in it to push it into the inside of the helmet? to take shape....i am going to hit the stores and see what is avalible.....the hat will have to be big and loose knit to do the shaping..don't forget to line the helmet with foam first...it is a cushion for the head.

You could cut your fleece into squares and glue those in, and then cut triangles to fit the spaces in between the squares.

I know you didn't ask this, but have you always been the owner of the helmet? If not, maybe you could get a dealer to x-ray it for you. Go to a dealer that charges for the x-ray so they won;t have a reason to lie and try to sell you a helmet you don't need.

It will bunch up as it tries to take the spherical shape. You may have to cut some darts out of the sheet and then glue it into the helmet. Try laying it over the outside of the helmet to determine how to make the cuts and then estimate the slight difference for the inside diameter and cut to fit.
