Race drivers do not speed like that on public roadways. They are far too smart for that. You are a budding corpse. Sorry to burst your bubble.

This stuff is better left on the track.

First of all, you are endangering innocent people then you do this. On the track all other drivers are at least willing participants.

I'm not impressed. Just because you can hold your foot to the floor is not that big of deal. Try it with someone else rubbing the side of your car or pushing your bumper while doing this. Rubbing is racing.

Only race cars are truly built from the ground up to do this. Any sanctioning body is going to have strict safety rules for vehicle construction and requires safety equipment.

Also, a race track is going to have an ambulance and safety crews on site to immediately care for you when you crash.

Also, if you are caught, you will lose your license, pay enormous fines, and possible jail time. Once you get your license back you will have to get the very expensive high risk insurance.

On the race track you can drive as fast as you can.

You think you won't get caught. Highway Patrol Officers are trained in high speed driving. I doubt you had any professional instruction, so the police officer will have the advantage. Most highway patrol cars are modified for police use. Speed limiters removed, engine modifications, suspension modifications, frame stiffeners, etc. And the biggest modification of all, the Motorola Radio, you can't outrun that. Instead of chasing you they simply radio ahead.

Speeds like that are best left to a track... otherwise dont do it.

How do you know your tires are rated for that kind of speed? I believe most are rated to max out around 130mph before the risk of failure increases exponentially.

Any dip in the road, animal, oncoming traffic could send you into a wreck and at those speeds you probably aren't going to survive.

Is your car equipped with 4 point seat harnesses? Roll cage? Really freaking good insurance?

140 on street tires is pretty dumb. Just think blowout. Fortunately an indicated 140 in most cars is about 125 actual so you may have been within the limits of a good speed rated tire.

Driving flat out in street cars you might not make it to race driver. I have gone as fast at Texas World Speedway My local road course I cannot get faster than 125 in two places and have to be as slow as 45 in two places. Please learn how to drive at track day on a track with an instructor.

Absolutely retarded. Do you have Z rated tires? Are you on the autobahn? Are there other innocent drivers on the road? Do you car what your parents will feel if you go splat? Speed is meant for a closed course - not on a highway in a dodge neon.

Only 140? What was wrong? Had you forgotten to unhook your caravan?
